CHURCH SCHOOL
Youth Church School meets in the youth room on the second floor of the Spirit Center every Sunday from 9:45 until 10:30 a.m. This is a time of relaxed study and interaction for students in grades 6th –12th. The main goal of this class is to teach students to learn to search for spiritual answers and guidance through the use of the Bible. The use of various types of traditional curriculum, as well as the use of videos and internet-based lessons, are used to achieve this.
WEDNESDAY PROGRAM
The Jr. Youth are now meeting at 6 p.m. rather than 4 p.m., as the earlier time is not convenient for many. We will continue to meet at 5:15 p.m. for a meal ($3 suggested donation) then gather in the youth room together with Director Paula at 6 p.m. After an opening prayer and business, the Jr. Youth will go into another room for their lesson which will be led by Brandi Parker, our new “Youth Director Intern.” The Sr. group will stay in the youth room with Paula for their lesson. We are excited about having Mrs. Brandi volunteer to work with our youth and hope that all will come and bring a friend! The goal of the youth group is to offer students an opportunity to bond with other Christian students in a non-threatening and loving environment, and at the same time learn how to incorporate Christian choices and values into their daily lives.
OTHER ACTIVITIES
The Foley United Methodist Youth focus on Serving Christ by participating in several different service projects throughout the year. Some of the past projects include the American Heart Association Annual Heart Walk, the American Cancer Society annual Relay for Life, and the National Souper Bowl Sunday, along with working for various church functions and events. There are always 2 to 3 out of town trips that the youth attend. These trips are Christian Retreats that incorporate fun into praise and worship and missions.
A word from FUMC Youth Director:
I love working with young people and I am proud of the youth who attend our services, classes and activities. There is plenty of room here for more of you to join us.
We try to make church fun. We have trips, outings, and activities sometimes designed just to enjoy the gift of friendship and togetherness. But that is not our first goal. Our first purpose is to help you grow in your faith in God and your love for others, and increase opportunities for you to express that love in service and mission projects.
We have all kinds of people in our youth group: shy people, outgoing folks, tall, short and in between. All are accepted and loved. So we think there is a place for YOU here, too!
Much love,
Paula Bonner
