This Wednesday Night Supper (Sept. 8th) is a special “Farewell Fellowship” for Dr. Moore as he begins his time of leave. The menu will be a chicken casserole, potato casserole, lima beans and a delicious desert. If anyone doesn’t like to drive at night and needs transportation to the event, please call the church office. The suggested donation for dinner is $5 per adult, $3 per student, with a total family cost of $13. Dinner begins at 5:15. Please reserve your place at the table by signing up on the pew pad or bulletin insert, or by phoning the office 943-4393 before Monday noon. We expect a large crowd and need to plan our food preparation accordingly.

Staff Parish Relations Committee

There will be a SPR committee meeting on Monday, August 16th at 5:00 p.m. in the Conference Room. Please make every effort to attend. Camp Odyssey-Grief Camp for Kids

We are fortunate to have a two day camp on August 28-29, 2010 at Camp Beckwith that is available for children (age 6-14) that has been affected by the death of a loved one. This is a an Odyssey VistaCare Hospice Foundation that supports our local communities at no cost to the participants. If you know of a child that would benefit from this camp, please contact Paula at the church office.

Winning Wednesday

Our Winning Wednesday dinners and programs will resume this Wednesday, August 18th. Our program will be The Last Lecture presented by Dr. Moore. The meal will be pot luck, with the disciple team providing coffee, tea, water, etc. You should plan to bring a delicious casserole, salad, fresh summer vegetable, or a cool dessert and sit down to dinner fellowship at 5:15 p.m. Our program will begin at 6:00.

FUMC Youth Group

Monday, August 16th is the first day of school, and that means that the weekly Wednesday night FUMC Youth will start again on Wednesday, August 18th. As our new school year begins, we want any and all youth in grades 6th – 12th to come and join us on Wednesday evenings. Any adults who have a passion (and patience) to help our youth department, please call Paula at the church office and let us know of your interest and ways you might like to help.

Disciple Classes

Anyone interested in Disciple Classes this fall needs to sign up soon so we can order the workbooks. The dates and times for Disciple II and Disciple IV are posted outside of the office area. If we have enough interest in Disciple I we will discuss the most convenient time for those interested.

Leukemia & Lymphoma Society

Michele Mullins is hosting a gold party for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. It will be held on August 10 in the fellowship hall from 6:00 to 9:00 pm. It is a come and go event and refreshments will be served. Start collecting your old and or damaged gold jewelry now. You will get cash on the spot and 15% of what the party makes will go to the LLS. Early Riser Breakfast

Hazel Kagey will be cooking breakfast before and after the 8:30 a.m. Worship Services each Sunday. The menu will include a variety of breakfast foods such as eggs biscuits, grits and sausage, and will be available in either an entrée or a la carte with donation prices accordingly. These donations will go to help pay our mortgage

Pie Contest, Photo Contest, Ice Cream Social

FUMC will have all these events for you to enjoy on August 29th at 4 p.m. in the Spirit Center. Bring your favorite pie to be judged. Bring an 8×10 copy of your best picture you have taken of Gods great beauty and enter it in our photo contest. What a great way to end the summer, celebrating fellowship and love within our church! The pie topped with ice cream will be offered $2.00 a slice and the photo collecting the most pennies will be declared the winner. Monies collected will be used to finance a fall festival for our community. Come on out and celebrate Gods goodness with us on the 29th!

Baldwin County Kids 4 Clean-up

BALDWIN COUNTY KIDS 4 CLEAN-UP is a local grassroots effort to respond to the gulf oil spill by assisting our local authorities as they rescue the Gulf Coast wildlife that have or will be affected by the oil spill. You can help by donating the following items: rags and towels, Dawn dish washing liquid (blue color only), rubber gloves, Q-tips, toothbrushes, gallon size plastic bags, garbage bags, or cash for the purchase of these items. Bring your donations to the church office. We have already collected a box full of cleaning supplies and $395!
